And you know when someone tells you your son or daughter looks just. like. you.?

You get what they’re saying, because you see it (or smell it) in other people. But yourself? Its hard to grasp.

That’s how I feel about scrapbooking.

Its an art form. Your style and personality are expressed through the way you scrapbook. Everyone has their own certain way of doing things, and thus a certain look that carries through every layout, even if they don’t recognize it.

I’ve been trying to pinpoint and define my own style. Its been hard for me to do, since there are so many factors that influence it…

I like a lot of different styles.

The industry fads and fashions constantly change.

I am a much more creative and confident scrapper than I was 5 years ago

But beyond the latest fashions and experience levels, I think we each have a style that weaves its way through our scrapbooks, one that is all our own.

So if someone nailed me to the wall and forced me to define my style, I would have to call it “Shabby Chic Meets OCD”. Strange, no?

I love patterns, the distressed look, floral and girly, swirly things. But at the same time I’m very linear, clean and simple in my designs. I can only be so free-flowing before I get shaky and jittery. (I also keep house the same way…just ask my husband.)
