Have you noticed this? Seems like a lot of scrapbook publications out there feature one, or maybe two, photo layouts. They’re usually like a 5×7 or larger size and they are the centerpiece of the page…as it should be.

I don’t know about you, but a lot of the scrapbookers I talk to don’t scrapbook this way. Usually, we’re trying to cram 47 pictures on one 12×12 layout. Its hard to narrow down a few good shots that still capture the emotion and impact of the memory we’re trying to create.

Maybe you are one of the “single” photo layout people. I have nothing against you…promise. I think its just a different philosophy, really. You’re capturing a memory while focusing more on the artistic, creative end. For me, a “multi” photo girl, I’m focusing on as many of the details of the memory I can while enhancing them with embellishments.

I appreciate publications like Creating Keepsakes giving tips on using multiple photos on some of their series. To me this is where more of us are…capturing real life in every day, candid photos.

I feel like a broken record. I am constantly saying to my friends, my family, these blogs…”I dont have time”…”Im sooooo busy”…”I can’t do it all”…”I wish I had more time”.

Can you relate? Is it a woman thing or a mom thing or a poor-planner thing? I have so many things I want to do…

write posts for the Cropaholics in Training series

create more digi graphics

sit and watch my new found love, Netflix on Wii

review products

take a walk

And there are the things I need to do…

laundry

spend to much money by saving money at Costco

clean up the sticky spot in the kitchen

finish that blog design for my client

answer emails

sign that permission slip

return those books

call my sister back

Oh, my head is spinning.

And then there’s scrapbooking. Scrapbooking! Scrapbooking?

Seems its always pushed to the bottom of the list.

But I’m holding out hope that this is a season. There will be more time later (when I’m dead, most likely). My kids won’t always be young and going in 35 directions. There won’t always be a struggle between being with them, working, blogging or enjoying my hobbies.

So for now, I’ll do my best. I’ll drive to the practices and do the shopping and clean late at night. I’ll post when I can and try to keep my clients happy.

And I’ll hug and kiss on them while they still want me to. I’ll treasure their crackling voices and their little drawing and the yellow weeds flowers they bring me.

Because, right now?

They will always win.

scrapbooks: what’s your fancy?

I’m a 12×12 album girl. I like all different brands. I’ve got about 18 albums and 13 of them are Creative Memories. When I first started scrapbooking, that’s all I would use. And not surprising, since they really got the industry rolling. I cut my scrapbooking teeth on Creative Memories.

Another brand I like is Pioneer. I’ve mentioned before that I think they make a very nice album.

But to be honest, I’m not very loyal to one brand. It usually comes down to what’s on sale, what’s cute, what kind of mood I’m in.

So what about you…what’s your fancy when it comes to albums? Any loyalists out there?
